Having been established in
Adelaide in 1939, The Bacchus Club Inc. is one of Australia’s oldest
continuously running wine and food societies. The seventieth
anniversary of The Bacchus Club was recently celebrated at Chloe’s
Restaurant which culminated in a Federation of Wine & Food Societies
of Australia Award for the host venue.
The objects of The Bacchus
Club are to:
enable
members and their guests to enjoy good foods and good wines in good
company, and
encourage
better understanding and experiences in the use and service of
wines.
The Club maintains a cellar of around 600 bottles for members'
enjoyment at functions, including a selection of appropriately aged
wines monitored by the cellarmaster.
The mixed membership currently stands at 31 and the Club hosts
around ten functions per annum at various restaurant, winery and
hotel venues in Adelaide, some black tie, some more casual
events. Visitors from other wine and food societies affiliated with
the Federation of Wine & Food Societies of Australia are welcome to
attend our functions to promote fellowship and wine and food
appreciation throughout the wider FWFSA community.
Expressions of interest in
membership of The Bacchus Club may be directed to any of the
aforementioned.
